Beijing Language and Cultural Centre for Diplomatic Missions (LCC) is a legal entity registered with National Authority for Public Institution Registration and Administration, providing language services specialized in teaching Chinese as a second language and offering content-based cultural lessons. It used to be the only state institution that provided such services to diplomatic missions and foreign media groups in China.

Established in 1956, LCC has outgrown a couple of different names of the organization in its development. Over the past four decades, people of various circles from more than 100 different countries have studied here, including former US president George Bush senior, former Indian president Kocheril Raman Narayanan and over 260 ambassadors. We’ve also been sending Chinese teachers to the Royal Palace of Thailand to teach HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn since 1983.

At present, apart from diplomatic staff, the wider international business community in Beijing forms another major source of students for LCC.

LCC offers a wide spectrum of courses ranging from Chinese to all different languages, Chinese calligraphy and painting, piano and martial arts, in the forms of individual lessons and small classes tailored to students’ needs. LCC also organizes study tours, lectures, and summer camp on a regular basis.

LCC now boasts a team of over 80 professional teachers with strong educational background of PhD, Master or Bachelor degrees. Most of them have overseas working experience; hold professional titles of professor, associate professor, or lecturer, and certificates of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Using English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Polish and Russian as media language, LCC teachers not only have abundant experiences of teaching Chinese language and cultural courses, but also apply innovative teaching methods. They receive trainings on a regular basis to ensure continuous development of their professional standard and competence.

We are proud to have more than 30 self-developed teaching materials published so far, with some award-winning textbooks by Ministry of Education (MOE), and some copyrights purchased by foreign publishers. These books offer a combination of practicality and interest, catering to different needs of learners.

LCC is also a MOE-approved HSK venue that runs the Chinese level test annually.

Located in a courtyard of its own with elegant environment, LCC has a teaching building of 3,000 square meters equipped with advanced language lab, computer room, library, multifunction hall and classrooms of various sizes.
