Beijing Duty - Free Shop for Diplomatic Missions was established in 1985. It is the only shopping center approved by the State Council to provide duty-free goods especially for diplomatic missions, official international organizations and their personnel. For over 20 years the duty-free shop has been working hard to build a shopping paradise for the foreign diplomatic community in Beijing with its satisfactory service.

The Shop has a business area of 1600 square meters, with a registered capital of 11.139 million yuan and a wide range of commodities including wines and liquors, cigarettes and cigars, electric appliances, clocks and watches, cosmetics and perfume, food, office supplies and many other articles.

Duty - free commodities sold in the shop are under the supervision of the Chinese Customs authorities during the whole process of import, transport, in and out of the storehouse, and sale. The Shop has been maintaining for years direct trade flow with over 10 countries and regions.

The Shop provides for foreign diplomats and diplomatic missions services covering free delivery of large-size or large amount goods, wrapping of gifts, handling of order and reservation, and filling out of the Customs Declaration Forms on behalf of the customers. Accepted in the Shop are: Renminbi cash, US dollar cash, checks as well as credit cards (Visa, JCB American Express, Diners Club International).

To serve the increasing number of foreign consular missions established in various Chinese cities outside Beijing, this Shop has opened its branch shops in Shanghai, Liaoning and some other cities. These branches provide duty-free goods for diplomatic personnel of foreign consulates and representative offices of international organizations, and government officials attending international conferences held in these places.

The shop has also set up convenience stores inside the Diplomatic Residence Compounds of Jianguomenwai and Qijiayuan for the convenience of diplomats living there to buy daily necessities.

It is one of the first businesses that started to sell imported wines in China after the implement of reform and opening-up policy. In November 2007, the Shop set aside inside the Shop a special area for duty-paid wines ---- No.44 Wine Shop, and therefore, people have one more place to taste more wines of the world. Taking advantage of many years’ professional experience, the good supply channel and low operation costs of this shop, and its good preserving conditions, the No.44 Wine Shop sells its wines at much lower prices than other franchised stores. This Wine Shop is now famous and popular for its excellent and professional service.

For the purpose of fostering Chinese wine and tea cultures, this duty-free shop has also selected from its stock for recommendation to its clients specialty and brand name products such as Maotai, Wuliangye (Five-Grain Liquor), Dahongpao Tea, and many others.
